The capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abu Dhabi, will reportedly host a summit dedicated to the implementation of blockchain technologies into the aviation industry, dubbed “Blockchain: Unlock the Potential”, taking place from April 2 to 4, according to a press release by local news site Emirates News Agency (Mar 31).

Chairing the summit are the, and ingenious speakers such as the state’s Minister of Economy and Heathrow Airport’s Executive.

The event is organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi with co-organizers UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The state’s Minister of Economy and a Heathrow Airport’s Executive will join the event as speakers.

The summit will focus on blockchain practices throughout the aviation sector, encompassing aircraft, financial portfolios, business operations, and the likes. With expected worldwide attendance of up to 800 persons, the conference targets to address the possibility of blockchain technology integrated into the industry on a global scale.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, in a remark on UAE being the host country, mentioned the government’s proactivity in adopting new technologies across sectors, including aviation, “maintaining strong partnerships between the government and the private sector […] in a dynamic and thriving environment.”

The summit came shortly after the success of the previous forum on crypto assets and fintech held by the United Arab Emirates Banks Federation (UBF) and the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), as the nation purportedly aspires to be among the international hubs for finance, as reported by The Crypto Sight.
