By Shannon Wilson | February 24, 2022

Warner Music Group reportedly disclosed details related to its newly forged alliance with fantasy-themed collectible card game developer Splinterlands.

Specifically, both entities will reportedly be working together to assist WMG artists in creating and building play-to-earn, arcade-style blockchain games.

In January, WMG reportedly established its first presence into the non-fungible token (NFT) sphere, via a collaboration with The Sandbox, working towards a common target of offering an alternative outlet for fan engagement to WMG artists.

“By partnering with Splinterlands to build custom tokenized games, we’ll unlock new revenue streams for our artists who have an interest in the space while elevating the role of fandom and community.” Oana Ruxandra, chief digital officer and executive vice president of business development at WMG further remarked.

“We’re thrilled to be working with WMG, and I look forward to new collaborations at the intersection of gaming, music, crypto, NFTs, DeFi, and blockchain.” Jesse “Aggroed” Reich, co-founder and current Head of Splinterland, additionally claimed.

Splinterlands was reportedly established four years ago (2018) and is the creating force behind a blockchain game of the same name, functioning as a one-on-one skill battling game, allowing players to purchase, sell and trade their cards freely, with all transactions recorded on the Hive blockchain.

At the moment, the number of recorded users completing registration with the game hit 1.8 million and exceeded the milestone of 1 billion battles not long ago.

Per insights generated by DappRadar,  it reportedly stands at the number one spot in the list of most popular blockchain games, based on the number of users throughout the past seven days.
