Twitter & Stripe Collaboratively Introduced USDC Payout Program For Creators via Polygon

Twitter and Stripe collaboratively disclosed details related to the release of crypto payouts for Stripe Connect on April 22nd. 

Specifically, per the two firms, a chosen group of creators on Twitter will reportedly receive the payout for their works on the platform in the form of the USD Coin (USDC) stablecoin in the near future. 

Payments will reportedly be facilitated via the Polygon (MATIC) network, a layer-2 blockchain that is widely recognized for its low costs, accelerated transaction speed, innovative zero-knowledge technology as well as integration with Ethereum (ETH).

As a centralized platform, content creators and freelancers would initially be required to pace Know Your Customer onboarding checks carried out by Stripe.

After that, they will be able to manage the specifics of their accounts, tracking real-time earnings and upcoming payouts into their crypto wallets.

Twitter and Stripe are reportedly having plans down their pipeline that by the end of 2022, they will widen the scope of the program to cover more than 120 nations. 

“We’re excited to begin offering crypto payouts to creators via Stripe, so they have more choice in how they get paid.” Esther Crawford, Twitter’s product lead for creators, additionally remarked regarding the development. 

At the time of publication, Twitter is being targeted in a “hostile takeover” by a billionaire entrepreneur and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. 

Musk reportedly claimed that his prioritized commitments will include, if his attempt to purchase the firm succeeds, is to cut down on the cryptocurrency scam tweets spreading across the platform and probably rolling out a Dogecoin (DOGE) payment option for its Twitter Blue monthly subscription service.
