BlockShow Raises Fundraising to Help Rebuild Notre Dame Cathedral

BlockShow, a global blockchain event, has recently opened a crypto crowdfunding campaign to repair the Notre Dame Cathedral, which suffered huge damage by a catastrophic fire on Apr 15.

Per the announcement (Apr 16), the BlockShow team created two digital crypto wallet addresses, encouraging users to donate in both Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). There was also a link to the Foundations Du Patrimoine, which is raising donations in fiat currency. Moreover, customers will receive BlockShow tickets for their donations.

Several international fundraising funds have reportedly donated for the reconstruction, including GoFundMe and La Fondation Avenir du Patrimoine à Paris. French millionaires, including the Bettencourt Meyers family, Bernard Arnault and François Pinault, have contributed hundreds of millions of dollars.

Reacting to the severe damage, French president Emmanuel Macron wrote on Twitter: “Notre-Dame is aflame. Great emotion for the whole nation. Our thoughts go out to all Catholics and to the French people. Like all of my fellow citizens, I am sad to see this part of us burn tonight.”

Donald Tusk, President of the European Council expressed his dismay to the French people: “I’d like to say words of comfort and solidarity with the French nation, also as citizen of Gdańsk, 90% destroyed and burnt, later rebuilt. You will also rebuild your cathedral! From Strasbourg, French capital of the EU, I call on all 28 States to take part in this task.”

More and more blockchain firms are working with the non-profit sector, to offer more opportunities and credibility for the industry. Earlier this month, Chris Larsen, Ripple Co-Founder and his wife donated $25m in XRP to San Francisco State University to support student learning in fintech industry, reported by The Crypto Sight on Apr 10.
