Blockchain Project Theta Rolled Out Update Can Work With Smart Contract Data

By Shannon Wilson | December 19, 2020

Theta – a blockchain network providing facilitating features for video streaming – has reportedly rolled out a mainnet update unlocking numerous additional services.

Specifically, the new Theta network upgrade reportedly comes with a block explorer, having the power to interact with smart contract data, as of a block height of 8,411,427.

Theta is reportedly among the blockchain projects still moving forward slowly from the previous initial coin offering boom. It finalized the first ICO towards the end of the boom in January 2 years ago, securing $20 million.

Despite numerous ICOs of the same kind from that time having reportedly been shut down, or scrutinized, Theta is still normally operational.

“The Guardian Node staking threshold is decreased to 1,000 THETA at block 8,411,427, for both new staking and adding to additional stakes.” The project reportedly disclosed an additional benefit apart from the upgrade.

Extra benefits rolled out together reportedly include a fresh website for details of the protocol, a revised block explorer yielding smart contract data, and the unveiling of Theta-js Javascript SDK.

“This upgrade will not require existing token holders to take any action or move any tokens — there is no token swap of any kind,”

The project reportedly has plans down its pipeline to release more updates, nominally a Google Chrome extension for Theta wallets.
