Securitize, a compliance platform for digitizing securities on the blockchain, has recently become one of 10 companies to join IBM’s Blockchain Accelerator Program, reported Forbes (Jan 21).

Carlos Domingo, co-founder and CEO of Securitize, expressed the firm’s desire to build “the world’s first debt issuance platform with blockchain technology in 2019”.

“With the aid of IBM, we hope to modernize the $82 trillion dollar corporate debt market — which is currently riddled with inefficiencies and high fees — with blockchain technology.” Domingo added.

The blockchain accelerator program expects to last three months and include a Blockchain Architecture Workshop to work with IBM and external mentors.

In November 2018, Cointelegraph reported that IBM and Columbia University announced two blockchain accelerator programs giving crypto startups the access to Columbia’s student talent and research community.
