The Africa Blockchain Institute (ABI) has reportedly established the first blockchain institute in Rwanda next year, with 5 programs available for local developers, professionals and policymakers.

Specifically, on December 26, Kayode Babarinde – Executive Director for ABI – shared that the institute will initially offer 5 key programs in its agenda – a blockchain essentials certification course, a blockchain developers’ course, an enterprise blockchain course, blockchain for lawyers and blockchain for impact.

Babarinde also shared that prior to the official launch of the Rwanda-based school, a pilot test has been carried out in Ghana, where an inaugural class was available for a blockchain essentials certification program.

Although the official content for the 5 key programs has been finalized before the pilot test is initiated, the institute’s curriculum has been adjusted, based on the feedbacks and contribution of everyone enrolled in the courses.

Babarinde further shared that a set of particular local features make Rwanda the ideal place for investments.

“Every technology company is looking for an enabling environment to serve the continent. This means supportive policies, resource management, and visibility for the market. All these make Rwanda stand out in Africa.”

Apart from the education project, ABI also focuses on enhancing Africa’s blockchain and digital coins regulatory framework, with the support from Blockchain DLT Rwanda Association.
