Monster Energy Submitted Trademark Filings For NFT & Metaverse

Beverage heavyweight Monster Energy has reportedly submitted the filing for four trademarks applications, as revealed by recent filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Specifically, Monster Energy currently has four pending trademark applications associated with the non fungible tokens (NFTs) and metaverse spheres. 

The first trademark application reportedly includes downloadable virtual goods made up of but not confined within the scope of, beverages, food, supplements, sports, gaming, music, and apparel.

Per the filing, that kind of downloadable multimedia assets will be “authenticated by NFTs.” computer programs supporting blockchain data interactions. 

The second filing reportedly comprises retail store and online retail store services with authentications completed by NFTs, together with an “online marketplace for buyers and sellers of virtual goods.”

In the similar sense, the third filing reportedly consists of entertainment services associated with such virtual apparel. Lastly, the final filing involved providing an online software, to support the transmission of crypto assets among users powered by blockchain technology. 

As revealed via insights provided by USPTO, it may require a maximum of 7.4 months for the agency to process first-time trademark applications.

There reportedly seems to be a sudden increase in terms of establishments making a presence across the NFT and metaverse spheres via intellectual property applications in 2022. 

In early February this year, the New York Stock Exchange reportedly submitted a filing of a trademark application for trading NFTs. Almost simultaneously, McDonald also completed the filing of trademarks for “McMetaverse” restaurants, which also includes its iconic McCafe brand.
