Gaming Heavyweight Took Up Core Channel Node Operator For Blockchain Firm Aleph.im

By Shannon Wilson | July 9, 2021

Gaming behemoth from France Ubisoft has reportedly taken additional strides in its blockchain efforts, via becoming a part of the Aleph.im network as a channel node operator.

Specifically, taking up the role of channel node operator – which will open up opportunities for additional partnership with the cloud platform – will reportedly carry out decentralized network staking, validation, and management, as a form of Ubisoft’s contribution.

While every node will have the freedom to be a part of the network, its status as a core channel node will only receive activation following successful staking of 500,000 ALEPH tokens.

Jonathan Schemoul, founder and current Head of Aleph.im, reportedly revealed that the main target of the entity is to make decentralized cloud services available, and Ubisoft has a belief that blockchain possesses the key leading to the development of the video game sphere, offering new opportunities for both players and developers.

“Beyond NFTs themselves, the decentralized storage of their metadata appears to us as a determining factor in fulfilling the whole promise of true ownership. In this perspective, the exploration of the services offered by the Aleph.im decentralized network is particularly promising.” Genevois, a blockchain technology developer at Ubisoft, reportedly remarked.

Ubisoft’s exposure to the Aleph.im network reportedly witnessed significant development following the blockchain network’s participation in its Entrepreneurs Lab, together with 10 different startups throughout the tech sector.

Ubisoft has reportedly publicly disclosed its plans to conduct larger blockchain initiatives. In June last year, the firm rolled out blockchain-powered collectibles to raise money for the United Nations Children’s Fund, (UNICEF).
