By Natalie Wu | January 31, 2020

Surojit Chatterjee – a former executive-level personnel of Google – has reportedly been appointed to the position of chief product officer for crypto exchange heavyweight Coinbase

Prior to his upcoming adventure with Coinbase, Chatterjee has been working for Google as their vice president of product, having clocked in over a decade (11 years), as revealed by head of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, on January 29th.

In his years at the Internet giant, Chatterjee was the main man in charge of developing its shopping branch. Before Google, Chatterjee worked at a leading role (head of product) for the e-commerce platform, based in India, called Flipkart.

“Surojit’s 11 years at Google will be valuable as we continue to scale Coinbase into a company with a lasting and meaningful impact on the world’s financial system,” Armstrong added.

Jeremy Henrickson was the chief product officer for Coinbase up until Chatterjee recently replaced him.

Chatterjee’s time working at Flipkart has equipped him with sufficient knowledge and perspective in handling cross-border commerce, and the potential to enhance the current system.

Cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology can help open up the financial system for everyone by growing cross-border commerce, lowering transaction costs, providing higher security and by helping individuals have more control over their financial future.” Chatterjee shared his remarks.
