Coinbase, US major cryptocurrency exchange has announced the support for Ripple (XRP) to its platform and mobile apps.

According to Coinbase’s blog post on Feb 28, its users can now buy, sell, convert, send, receive, or store XRP around the world, except the United Kingdom and New York state initially. Coinbase also noted that its support for XRP is available on Coinbase.com, Coinbase Android and IOS app.

Just a few days ago, a report from blockchain research firm Diar stated that Ripple has violated one of Coinbase’s listed requirements, which caused rumors whether Ripple paid for this listing or not. Coinbase’s investor Alistair Milne has immediately sent an email to Coinbase to clarify whether Ripple paid or offered any incentive. However, Coinbase’s director of communications, Elliott Suthers, refused to discuss this issue publicly.

Later, Miguel Vias, a Ripple’s senior executive, has publicly denied that Coinbase XRP listing was paid.

“We’re happy to go on the record. Coinbase’s listing of XRP (also, not “our token”) was Coinbase’s independent decision – we did not give them anything to make it happen,” Miguel tweeted.

Miguel later continued refusing the conclusion of XRP as belonging to Ripple. Although Coinbase’s announcement has caused many controversial conversations, this news is actually a good one to Coinbase’s users who have been urged this platform using XRP for a long time.
