The world-recognized beverage manufacturing giant Coca-Cola is reportedly having plans down its pipeline to roll out an NFT collection, dedicated to fundraising for Special Olympics International.

Specifically, The OpenSea marketplace has reportedly been tasked with hosting an auction – lasting for three days – for Coca-Cola branded non fungible tokens (NFTs), beginning July 30th.

The NFT collections – designed via an alliance formed with digital designer Tafi – reportedly drew inspiration from “video-game loot boxes”, and came with “hidden surprises” accessible exclusively to individuals who have bought the artwork.

The “Friendship Boxes” reportedly comes with a classic Coca-Cola cooler, a wearable bubble jacket that buyers can use across the Ether-powered virtual reality world Decentraland, a friendship card, and a sound visualizer which plays audio of a bottle opening, a beverage being poured over ice, and the fizz sound common to carbonated beverages.

People interested in the development will reportedly be able to place their bids in Ether (ETH) via OpenSea, with the deadline being the 2nd of August.

“Each NFT was created to celebrate elements that are core to the Coca-Cola brand, reinterpreted for a virtual world in new and exciting ways. We are excited to share our first NFTs with the metaverse” Global Coca-Cola Trademark president Selman Careaga reportedly remarked.

The soft drink heavyweight further revealed its intention to dedicate all proceeds generated in the auction towards donation to the Special Olympics International – a sports organization operational with a primary goal of stopping discrimination against individuals having intellectual disabilities.
