CasperLabs Becoming Service Provider to China’s Blockchain-based Service Network

By Natalie Wu | January 22, 2022

Blockchain software company CasperLabs reportedly disclosed details related to its newly formed alliance with China’s Blockchain-based Service Network (BSN).

Via the agreement, which has been minted as a nonfungible token (NFT) as a sign of commemoration, Casper Network will reportedly be listed as an option for a blockchain network for the Fuzhou City Chain, available for public and private use in crypto infrastructure developments in the area, which goes by the name “Fuzhou Chain powered by Casper”.

RockTree Capital, an investment firm headquartered in New York, reportedly played a major part in accelerating the partnership process of the agreement between Casper and the city of Fuzhou.

The primary target of the alliance is reportedly to help BSN take advantage of Casper’s scalability, security, and decentralization, together with the use of the open-permissioned blockchain (OPB) protocol, in an attempt to remove the necessity of using crypto as means of payment of gas fees.

Since its introduction three years ago (2019), BSN has reportedly managed to widen its scope to cover over 120 public city nodes throughout China, functioning as data facilities, in charge of operating and processing transactions on its umbrella blockchain networks.

“By partnering with Casper, the BSN gains from Casper’s scalability, security, and decentralization. The use of OPB eliminates the use of cryptocurrencies to pay for gas fees. All combined, this makes it much simpler for developers in and around Fuzhou to generate public and private blockchain applications at a lower cost.” Mrinal Manohar, co-founder, and CEO of CasperLabs, further remarked regarding the development.
