Cardano blockchain could reportedly function as a viable solution for organizing future national elections, with infrastructures for this project being developed already, per Charles Hoskinson.

Specifically, Hoskinson reportedly remarked that it would be a gradual process to achieve a Cardano-based e-voting system, with numerous experiments needed to be carried out in prior.

He additionally claimed that the project could be kickstarted, via 3-party entities utilizing the solutions for their primaries, prior to expanding to municipal and state elections.

After that, Hoskinson reportedly believed the solution could be adapted to other nations’ election process, encountering issues with legacy systems.

“I think it’s entirely possible in three to five years that we can take that test back and sell it to the government of Ethiopia, for example, or the government of Georgia. And they’re in the business of looking for new voting systems because they’re having so much problem with census and registration and fresh and free elections.”

He further stated that IOHK has a team available and headquartered in Lancaster, England, which put out insights into e-voting on a regular basis. Hoskinson admitted, however, that the scaling work for a blockchain-powered voting system would be hard.

Establishing a platform that comes with sufficient support for privacy and auditability would reportedly need an extensive amount of cryptographic overhead.
