US FBI Requested Information from QuadrigaCX Users for Investigation

FBI, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, has asked former users of the QuadrigaCX cryptocurrency exchange to provide their information during the investigation of the death of QuadrigaCX’s CEO.

Earlier this year, QuadrigaCX has reportedly lost access to CA$70 million ($52 million) in cash and CA$190 million ($142 million) in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. As customers panicked and try to withdraw from their funds, Quadriga’s operations have been shuttered.

In an official announcement published on June 3, a questionnaire has been provided to people who lost funds by the FBI, asking numerous questions of their experience with the company and personal data:

“If you have questions or concerns about your QuadrigaCX account, or if you believe you are a victim, please complete the below questionnaire. […] Based on the responses provided, you may be contacted by the FBI and asked to provide additional information.”

In details, the form asked former QuadrigaCX users about their accessibility to the addresses of the exchange’s hot wallets and old transaction IDs. Moreover, FBI also requested document scans and identifying information to the exchange. Follow-up questions, as FBI noted, may take place for further investigation of the case.

Recently, the Nova Scotia Supreme Court Justice has reportedly accepted QuadrigaCX request for bankruptcy declaration. The final decision is backed by the court-appointed monitor of the case Ernst & Young, who advised the judge to go through with the announcement a month ago.
