UAE Health Ministry Rolled Out Blockchain Tool For Securing Healthcare Data

The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has reportedly rolled out a new blockchain-powered tool, specifically designed to provide storage for health-related data. 

Revealed on February 2nd, the platform – jointly built by the MoHAP, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Dubai Healthcare City and other governmental entities – has a primary goal of making smart health services, offered by MoHAP and numerous health establishment, more efficient. 

The new tool will also amp up the search process of users, in finding health facilities and legally authorized healthcare staffs, together with the inquiry process for medical supply. 

Dr. Lubna Al Shaali – head of the Public Health Policy Department – the blockchain-based platform will serve as an unchangeable, decentralized and encrypted database, with advanced security level, in the data validity and reliability verification. 

The new tool will also come with A.I-related features, as to stay in line with the initiatives for incorporating A.I into the current UAE healthcare system. 

“The AI-based projects will play a key role in enhancing the capabilities of health care services and providing smart medical solutions, in accordance with the UAE Centennial 2071, and its artificial intelligence strategy,” Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s Public Health Policy and Licenses, shared regarding the development.
