Pro-crypto AWS CEO Andy Jassy to Replace Jeff Bezos As Head of Amazon

Latest news from Amazon disclosing the departure of founder and current Head Jeff Bezos, with Andy Jassy – Head of Amazon Web Services and in charge of Amazon’s crypto product solutions, to take up the role. 

Specifically, as stated in the letter to the staff, Bezos reportedly shared his move to take up the executive chair position of the Amazon board, in which he would shift his concentration on “new products and early initiatives.”

Jassy has reportedly been establishing himself as an enthusiast, regarding the support for blockchain, and the development could signal a long-term crypto strategy, from top three international firms, market capitalization-wise. 

Jassy reportedly stated a review of blockchain and how its features can be applied to Amazon, four years ago (2017), during the Amazon “re:Invent” conference, where he shared his concerns regarding blockchain’s ability to be utilized beyond the scope of a “distributed ledger”, but also noted that his team personally has interest. 

Despite the firm’s strict policy when it comes to new tech, Jassy did leave room for further deep-dive into the tech, claiming “We are very intrigued by what customers are ultimately going to do there”. 

Three year ago, Jassy reportedly advanced with the progress a “quasi-blockchain” offering, as he was in charge of the releaseAmazon Quantum Ledger Database and Amazon Managed Blockchain. of two blockchain projects: Amazon Quantum Ledger Database and Amazon Managed Blockchain – which maintained centralized databases while added in cryptographic features.
