Instagram’s parent firm, Meta, reportedly disclosed the commencement of its testing phase for NFTs on Instagram Stories using the augmented reality platform Spark AR.

Specifically, CEO Mark Zuckerberg reportedly shared shared the firm’s pan of widening the scope of the test to offer more room for creators from across the globe, to showcase their NFTs on Instagram.

The firm further revealed that supporting features will be introduced on Facebook, for some particularly chosen US creators and collectors to share their digital collectibles throughout Facebook and Instagram, at a later date.

“We’ll bring this feature to Facebook soon too — starting with a small group of US creators — so people can cross-post on Instagram and Facebook. We’ll also test NFTs in Instagram Stories with SparkAR soon.” Zuckerberg further shared confirmation for a plan of facilitating NFTs in the long run.

In May, Meta reportedly rolled out digital collectibles, which per the firm’s description, “a brand-new way for consumers and creators to share NFTs on Instagram.”

In June this year, Meta additionally shared details of its intention of collaborating with other tech entities to form a Metaverse standards body. The group plans to design the next version of the web and build a shared ethos for Web3 and the Metaverse.

A few nominal names that will become a part of the initiative reportedly include Adobe, Epic Games, Microsoft, Nvidia and Qualcomm. Apple was noticeably not visible in the pack.

Meta is not the sole firm having plans of NFTs integration. Previously, its social media rival Twitter, introduced NFTs across its platform back in January.

Twitter’s NFT feature made it possible for users to connect Ethereum-based wallets to their accounts and display their NFT art as profile pictures.
