LG – a top-tier, South Korea-based electronics company – is currently conducting research with blockchain experts to introduce a development, worthy of an opponent to Samsung’s blockchain-powered phone – Klaytn.

Reported by the Chosun on September 8, an anonymous source in the field has disclosed that, LG has conducted numerous meetings with DApps developers in the nation, and has reached a final use case for how its project going to be.

“LG is likely to respond to Samsung’s innovation initiative,” the industry insider added.

The news has surfaced not long after Kakao Corp. – the tech giant behind the biggest messaging app in South Korea Kakao – was rumoured to be putting in work for an introduction of its blockchain features, appearing on the soon-to-be-released digital creativity of Samsung – Galaxy Note 10 smartphone.

LG’s new project – also known as the Klaytn Phone – has a built-in crypto wallet, which comes with free KLAY – a digital token created by one of LG’s branch firm – GroundX.

The blockchain-based smartphone from LG, along with the new initiative from Samsung mentioned above, could just be the beginning of a ripple effect in the field of crypto-included mobile devices.

“I think Samsung is trying to prepare differently in the blockchain field, just as LG responded with a dual screen when Samsung Galaxy came out with a foldable phone,” the Chosun further stated.

The new Klaytn is only available for clients within the South Korean region at the moment, and news on global release is yet to be disclosed.
