Indian Authorities To Introduce Nation-wide Blockchain Strategy

By Shannon Wilson | November 28, 2019

The Indian authorities are putting in work to introduce a new nation-wide blockchain strategy, in an attempt to further the adoption rate of the tech in the country.

Reported by the India Times on November 27th, India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) reportedly believe in the future implementation of blockchain, and that there should be a properly built shared infrastructure, in order to apply it for the real world.

The Ministry has also revealed the name of the project, currently in progress, the “National Level Blockchain Framework.”

Sanjay Dhotre – HR Development, Communications and Electronics and IT Minister of State – claimed that blockchain bears the potential to bring about major development across numerous industries, nominally governance, banking, finance and cybersecurity, as well as others.

India is witnessing a surge in blockchain-related developments. Previously, the Indian state of Tamil Nadu is reportedly conducting research to roll out a state-level policy, focused on blockchain and A.I. The policy aims at setting up some basic laws, regarding the way the state government can utilize cutting-edge techs for service delivery and handling governance problems.

In early 2019, the Southern Indian state of Telangana also introduced a draft blockchain policy initiative, with a primary goal to set up an ecosystem, dedicated to blockchain startups and research institutes.
