By Natalie Wu | July 17, 2022

Regardless of negative feedback from part of the gaming community, insights from a new survey reportedly suggested that one-third of gamers are keen on using crypto in the Metaverse.

Specifically, the results of the survey were publicly disclosed on July 13th by institutional software developer Globant. It was organized by YouGov with the participation of 1,000 adult PC, console, and/or mobile gamers in June, with 34% of respondents keen on carrying out crypto transactions in Metaverse.

The concept of play-to-earn (P2E) in the Metaverse reportedly also received good feedback from gamers, with 40% of respondents revealing they are “interested in pursuing a mix of both the ‘playing’ and ‘earning’ aspects of the Metaverse.” While 11% shared an interest in earning, and 49% stated they only focus on playing.

Over fifty percent (53%) of respondents reportedly revealed that they would work in virtual game worlds in a happy mood should they have the ability to earn digital currency from their effort.

Regarding nonfungible tokens (NFTs), 16% of gamers shared that they have bought at least one previously. Nonetheless, it was unclear whether they were gaming-related NFTs.

More than half (52%) of gamers expressed a belief that the Metaverse will bring revolution to the video game sector, and “a plurality of 41% think that the Metaverse will have a positive impact on the industry (vs. 25% who disagree).”

Notably, nevertheless, regardless of 40% of respondents related to blockchain tech with Metaverse, only one blockchain-native platform was included in the list of the most well-known Metaverse brands.

The one standing at the top of the most well-known list is Meta at 73%, followed by Fortnite creators Epic Games at 27%, Roblox at 21%, Ethereum-based The Sandbox at 15%, and Pokemon Go developers Niantic at 10%.
