Former Co-founder of Shutdown Exchange BitMarket Passed Away

Tobiasz Niemiro – who formerly co-founded the Poland-based, now-shutdown crypto exchange BitMarket – has been announced deceased.

As reported by Radio Olsztyn on July 25, the Olsztyn city police – where Niemiro had been living – has discovered his deceased body, not far from his home, with a serious injury in the head. The specific details to the death’s circumstances are yet to be revealed.

Gazeta Wyborcza – a Polish political-related news outlet – has suggested that Niemiro took his own life. The local government are putting in extensive efforts to learn the final circumstances that led to his demise.

Niemiro, with the help from his business associate Marcin Aszkiełowicz, acquired BitMarket one year following its official introduction to the market. At the start of July this year, BitMarket disclosed its lack of liquidity and announced the shutdown of its services.

Should users go onto the exchange’s web page to log in, a bilingual notification will be displayed, in English and Polish.

“Dear Users, We regret to inform you that due to the loss of liquidity, since 08/07/2019, Bitmarket.pl/net was forced to cease its operations. We will inform you about further steps.”

Around 400 clients have suffered from the closure of BitMarket. During an interview with Money.pl, Niemiro himself said that the incidence regarding the firm caused him to suffer also.

“I lost everything because somebody led to the collapse of the stock exchange. Now I’m losing face and good name for which I’ve worked all my life. I am one of the victims.”
