First Phone to Support A Full BTC Node Process Introduced by HTC

By Shannon Wilson | October 21, 2019

Major Taiwan-based phone manufacturer HTC has reportedly rolled out Exodus 1s – the new line of smartphone that supports a full Bitcoin (BTC) node.

As revealed in May 2019, HTC brought the Exodus 1s to the Lightning Conference in Berlin to introduce and opened for purchasing, via the Lightning payment network.

The Exodus 1s is a different version, which comes with a reduced price, of the Blockchain-based Exodus 1 phone being developed by HTC, that comes with a built-in Bitcoin Cash (BCH) support feature. Purchase price marked at €219 ($233), the new phone allows purchasing of Bitcoin, Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC).

Besides from transaction-related activities, including buy, sell, send, receive, trade and lend and borrow, the phone will be the first in the world to be able to conduct a full Bitcoin node.

Consumers in Europe, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE can buy the new phone right away, while other areas, nominally Taiwan, Switzerland and Germany will be available in a near future, as claimed in the report.

Phil Chen – Decentralized Chief Officer at HTC – believed that full nodes is a key factor in “the resilience of the Bitcoin network”, and the introduction of the Exodus 1s brings down the entry requirements for an individual to run a node and join in the global network.
