Dubai School Offers Bitcoin & Ether Payment Support For Tuition

By Warren Hayes | March 30, 2022

Citizens School, which is located in Dubai, reportedly opened up a tuition payments channel for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Once the payments using cryptocurrencies are confirmed, they are facilitated through a processing platform to be converted into United Arab Emirates Dirhams (AED).

Founder of Citizens School, Dr. Adil Alzarooni reportedly stated: “We look forward to enhancing the role of young generations in achieving the UAE’s digital economy. As more people embrace the era of digitalization, today’s children will become the entrepreneurs and investors of tomorrow.”

At the same time, Hisham Hodroge, CEO of the school added that introducing new means of payment using cryptocurrencies is much more than just another option. It is a means to drive further interest in the applications of blockchain — a technology that Citizens School intends to deploy, in time, across several aspects of its academic and administrative operations.’

The school, which is due to start in September, is in the center of Dubai and appears to be organized like an international school. Pupils aged 3 to 11 years old can enroll in the school. Citizens School’s tuition costs range from 45,000 AED to 65,000 AED a year ($12,250 to $17,700) before VAT, school lunches, a mandatory iPad for learning, field trips, extracurricular activities, and transportation, according to the school’s website.

The UAE is now a paradise for digital assets with many of its crypto-friendly regulations. Operational licenses have recently been granted to both Binance and FTX in Dubai. Abu Dhabi regulators are also imposing draft recommendations to facilitate NFT trading.
