Deloitte Staffs Can Buy Lunch in Bitcoin

By Shannon Wilson | September 19, 2019

Deloitte – One of Big Four auditing companies – has added Bitcoin (BTC) via digital wallets to the means of payment for their employees’ lunch at the firm’s cafeteria.

Reported by the Luxembourg Times on September 17, Deloitte is putting Bitcoin payment through the testing phase to test the reaction from its staff, in an effort to “see how the audit giant could use the cryptocurrency.”

“We think it’s good to have our employees assess this new technology.” Laurent Collet, Partner at Deloitte advisory firm, further remarked regarding the initiative.

Despite the new project among its employees, Collet revealed that the auditing giant are not having any plans in store that enable Bitcoin payment for its clients for the foreseeable future. At the same time, the Luxembourg branch of PwC announced that Bitcoin (BTC) will be available as a payment option from the start of October.

Collet disclosed that Deloitte is shifting its focus on exploring implementations of blockchain technology in transactions process and fund management, not payment. He further explained that moving funds would increase the process speed, simplifying the auditing protocol and at the same time eliminating the involvement of middlemen.

“This is where we focus our attention right now in linking this new technology with the needs of the Luxembourg industry.”
