Crypto Asset Platform Zipmex Teamed Up With Visa In Asia-Pacific

By Shannon Wilson | August 9, 2021

Asia-Pacific crypto-fiat trading entity Zipmex has reportedly entered a strategic alliance with Visa, in an effort to make its payment programs and offerings more convenient.

Specifically, the integration between the platform’s payment network ZipSend – built with a primary goal of making it possible for users to use their crypto – and Visa global network of 70 million merchants, will be completed.

As included in the scope of the alliance, Zipmex reportedly looks to roll out a Visa-branded payment card in the latter half of 2021.

Zipmex – which has had its compliant offices set up across Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Australia – is reportedly catering to a user base of more than 200,000 at the moment, and has a recorded figure of processed gross transaction volume surpassing the $1 billion benchmark, since it started its operation three years ago.

The firm has reportedly shared that it is still mandatory for any future payment offering, nominally a card, to acquire the go-ahead from the regulatory bodies in the associated jurisdictions.

Head of Zipmex – Marcus Lim – reportedly revealed that the platform’ efforts in turning itself into a crypto payment card issuance entity has granted it the role of providing support and guidance to help regulators pass effective digital asset legislation. This has been one of the more fulfilling aspects of this project.”

Previously, crypto exchange and payment service provider Crypto.com has reportedly entered a global agreement with Visa, which enabled the release of its card across different areas, including in Asia-Pacific.

In July, Visa reportedly disclosed that its crypto-enabled cards had finalized the processing for over $1 billion in the overall spending, throughout the first 6 months of this year only.
