Coinbase has moved 5 percent of all BTC, 8 percent of all Ethereum, and 25% of all LTC in circulation, along with “many other assets” to new cold storage infrastructure.

Conbase recently made what it claims is the largest and quietest crypto transfer on record.

According to Coinbase blog post reports Dec. 19, Coinbase has moved 5 percent of all BTC, 8 percent of all Ethereum, and 25% of all LTC in circulation, along with “many other assets” to new cold storage infrastructure.

Coinbase expressed their commitment to security from consumer security protections to internal development practices to third-party audits and tests.

Before the migration was conducted, Coinbase made sure to proceed with a very high degree of caution when sharing information about its plans: “we were worried that the market uncertainty would result in price movements. On the other side of the equation, we were worried that giving potential attackers too much notice would let them plan for and execute attacks”.

Coinbase stores 98% or more of their customer assets in their cold storage system. Coinbase’s cold storage has gone through a number of evolutions through the years as the cryptocurrency space has evolved and matured.
