China-based crypto mining entities are reportedly purchasing Nvidia’s new laptops, in an effort to mine Ethereum (ETH), during the time where the altcoin achieved a record-breaking high point.

Specifically, Nvidia’s most recent GeForce RTX 30 laptops have reportedly witnessed a surge in interest from people in China, to utilize them as means supporting cryptocurrency mining.

On February 6th, an account on Weibo that goes by the name BTCer has reportedly posted numerous images, displaying GeForce RTX 30 series gaming laptops forming a decent crypto mining farm.

“A laptop mine is up,” BTCer reportedly remarked in the post, depicting dozens of laptops stacked up on shelves.

Numerous tech media entities, including VideoCardz and Wccftech, reportedly claimed that the mining farm was formed with a specific goal to mine Ether.

Additionally, a fun video filmed by Bilibili user Fish Pond F2pool showing the way a laptop that comes with a new RTX 3060 graphics card can make crypto mining a simplified task. Using a laptop hooked up to a power outlet in Starbucks, the user reportedly mined 0.00053 ETH (equivalent of $0.89) in roughly 48 hours.

One GeForce RTX 3060 laptop reportedly has the potential power to generate the highest number of 2.3 ETH every year, consequently able to compensate for the laptop and energy costs in China.

Chinese GPU miners are reportedly perceived as the driving factor that fuels the increasing demand to the already shortaged market. In January 2021, Nvidia’s chief financial officer Colette Kress reportedly remarked that the firm’ supply “will likely remain lean throughout Q1,” stating that gaming demand was “off the charts,” and the company has been struggling to stay up to the hype.
