Within the first week of the Russia-Ukraine war, the Ukrainian authority has reportedly tapped the crypto community via Twitter for financial support via fundraising, to support its people and military.

Specifically, Ukraine has reportedly added a variety of cryptocurrencies to the list of viable measures for donations, nominally Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT).

With the military threats on the rise targeting the nation, the government of Ukraine reportedly tried gathering assistance from different organizations globally. Nonetheless, with time is of the essence, the official Twitter account of Ukraine extended its call for help to Crypto Twitter.

Moreover, the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov reportedly disclosed publicly three crypto wallet addresses, in a bid to call for donations to help Ukraine combat the Russian army.

While the BTC and ETH addresses remain the same, Fedorov’s USDT wallet address is TRC20-based, bearing some differences compared to the address shared by Ukraine’s official Twitter handle.

Prominent crypto entrepreneurs including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin reportedly had initial doubts that the accounts asking for crypto donations were tampered with, but US-based diplomat Tomicah Tillemann later confirmed its legitimacy from Ukrainian Ambassador Olexander Scherba.

While confusion related to the intended use of the crypto donations has surfaced, Buterin shared an alternative decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) initiative that concentrates exclusively on Ukrainian citizens.

UkraineDAO, under the leadership of Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova, was reportedly introduced with the release of a 1/1 non-fungible token (NFT) of the Ukrainian flag, to ask for financial support for Ukrainian civilian organizations to help those suffering from the war initiated by Putin.
