Carpenter, who obtained the title of a Bitcoin enthusiast throughout 2020, reportedly gave up every traditional sponsor to support his selection of racing with Bitcoin (BTC) car – number 21 – in the race.

“I don’t want to race for chips or beer this year. I’ve worked my entire life to race at the Indy 500 and have earned the platform that I have, and this year, I want to find a way to incorporate Bitcoin”. Carpenter reportedly remarked.

Mallers and the racecar driver are putting in continuous efforts to call for donations from crypto devoters, and has a goal of channeling 70% of secured proceeds towards financially support open-source Bitcoin growth, with the rest of the money is dedicated to funding the Bitcoin car and for Indianapolis charities.

Ross Stevens, executive chair of New York Digital Investment Group, reportedly contributed $250,000, and Mallers made a $25,000 donation, with his Strike payments and remittances app pitching in an additional $100,000.

“This isn’t the Strike car, the Coinbase car, the Kraken car […] this is the Bitcoin car. In a world of potato chip and energy drinks sponsors, Ed chose to race for human freedom, financial literacy, financial inclusivity, savings technology, and Bitcoin open-source development.” Mallers reportedly remarked.
