AR Firm Magic Leap Looking for Blockchain Engineers

It looks like Florida-based augmented reality (AR) startup Magic Leap is looking to explore the incorporation of blockchain into its services. Job listing portal Greenhouse has openings for a senior blockchain architect and blockchain engineers to join Magic Leap’s development team.

To join, applicants will need to have strong proficiency in programming designing, as well as experience with Red Belly and Hyperledger blockchain frameworks in writing smart contracts based on Hyperledger Fabric, Ethereum, and Corda blockchain ecosystem.

The senior blockchain architect is expected to develop “a portfolio of blockchain, smart contract, and Ricardian contract technologies in support of the implementation of our Lifestream business function,” the job listings read while working directly and coherently together with the engineering team.

Regarding the Lifestream project, Magic Leap CEO Rony Abovitz characterizes it as “all the data that you experience and the data of the world around you and how that needs to be protected”.

Founded in 2012, Magic Leap is owned by AT&T and Google. It was reportedly among the most funded startups of its field in 2018, Crunchbase noted, accumulating 41% of the virtual reality-driven venture capitals worldwide. It is working on developing head-mounted AR displays.

Meanwhile, cryptocurrency startup Enji has announced the coming of a Unity-powered Software Development Kit, specifically for app developers working in VR and AR divisions.
