Tech behemoth Amazon is reportedly on the hunt for a new executive for its payment-centric team, in an effort to accelerate its study of cryptocurrency and blockchain development.
Specifically, Amazon’s payments acceptance and experience team is looking to fill the vacancy of the product lead role for crypto and blockchain, to work on the firm’s strategy and roadmaps of the two fields.
The team is reportedly in charge of overseeing Amazon’s customers’ payments on Amazon’s sites as well as across its international offerings.
People qualified for the vacancy will reportedly need to be a veteran product leader, with in-depth knowledge of blockchain, CBDC and crypto, to “develop the case for the capabilities which should be developed” and achieve overall product vision.
The new Amazon digital currency lead will reportedly be collaborating with different teams throughout Amazon to develop the roadmap, with the scope covering customer experience, technical strategy and capabilities, as revealed by the firm.
The application reportedly comes with requirements for numerous sector-focused qualifications, including a “deep understanding” of the virtual currency and cryptocurrency ecosystems and associated technologies.
Amazon has reportedly not issued an official announcement regarding its release of a self-developed digital currency, as part of its payment acceptance process with the new position yet.
This most recent search for fresh personnel has reportedly reinforced Amazon’s increasing interest in the crypto sector, with the firm seems to be working on a new offering, rolling out crypto-enabled payment to its clients.
