Aliant Payments, an international merchant services and credit card processing provider from Florida, has announced (Jan 29) that it has begun offering cryptocurrency processing free-of-charge to qualifying merchants who sign up for its debit and credit card processing.

The complimentary service is being extended to Aliant’s new and existing merchant clients in the US and Europe, and is the company’s attempt to promote the use of its processing platform CryptoBucks. Aliant CEO Eric Brown said, “We’re offering free crypto processing so that merchants can experience the ease of our CryptoBucks platform, and the value that it brings their business.”

Aliant first launched CryptoBucks in July 2018. Since then, it has been making the platform faster and more user-friendly by adding new plugin integrations, a quick sale option, and an enterprise function that allows CryptoBucks to be fully customizable to any software vendor and merchant. Brown said Aliant’s goal is to “make cryptocurrency every merchant’s favorite form of payment”.

Aliant’s announcement said it has a banking relationship with an unnamed “publicly traded domestic bank” to facilitate all payments to merchants, and this relationship is “fully compliant with current federal regulations and adheres to all KYC (know-your-customer) and AML (anti-money laundering) rules”.

Another company that has been pushing for wider merchant adoption of crypto lately is Bitfury. The Crypto Sight reported last week that the crypto mining hardware company launched a new range of tools to support Bitcoin’s Lightning Network for merchants.
