Well-known social media platform Reddit has reportedly established a concrete alliance with the Ethereum Foundation, to boost Ether to “Reddit” – with over 1.7 billion visits monthly –  level of production.

Specifically, the initiative has reportedly been formally classified by Reddit as its first-ever blockchain collaboration – which will help enhance the site’s  “commitment to blockchain, accelerating scaling and resources for the Ethereum ecosystem, and bringing the value and independence of blockchain technology to millions of redditors.”

Last year, Reddit had reportedly begun to work on two major Ether-focused initiatives. The first is an application dubbed “Community Points” – functioning as a rewards network using ERC-20 tokens as rewards for redditors who submit engaging content to the platform.

Reddit additionally roll out a contest – The Great Reddit Scaling Bake-Off – looking for contributions of Ethereum scaling technology alternatives, which could offer assistance to numerous applications, nominally Community Points, in developing to mainnet, and as apply scalability to every of 400+ million month-to-month users.

Following its latest initiative to formalize the alliance with Ethereum Foundation, Reddit will reportedly be directing its resources towards designing the scaling technology, which can facilitate large-scale applications, such as Community Points, across the Ethereum blockchain.

Reddit’s in-house crypto team will reportedly be in charge of leading the project, and an appeal to backend engineers who expressed their keen on scaling as well as becoming a part of Reddit crypto team, to contribute their resources in designing a more decentralized internet will reportedly also be included.

Community Points is reportedly undergoing its beta phase across the Rinkeby network, and are being tested in r/Cryptocurrency and r/FortNiteBR.
