Crypto Lender Maple Finance Widened Its Support Scope to Cover Solana

By | April 26, 2022

Crypto capital markets platform Maple Finance has reportedly widened the scope of its current support to include the Solana blockchain, and has released a $45 million fund to boost ecosystem development.

Specifically, Maple reportedly makes undercollateralized loans available for institutional borrowers on Ethereum (ETH), with the new development now cover Solana (SOL) as well, from numerous pool delegates.

The project was reportedly initiated via an Apr. 25 blog post, where details revealing that it has already “originated over $1.2 billion in loans and currently count over $900 million in TVL to the platform.”

The ecosystem fund was reportedly introduced as a collaborative effort with DeFi lending platform X-Margin, with USD Coin (USDC) issuer Circle, digital asset manager CoinShares along with a few anonymous projects native to Solana to take care of the task of providing the capital.

The target Maple set out for its Solana division (Maple Solana) is reportedly to “bring Maple’s on-chain capital-market infrastructure to scale the Solana ecosystem”, as well as catering to financing demands across the network.

“Over the next three months, we expect to bring over $300 million of liquidity to Solana. We will soon welcome another credit-expert to the platform, and share more details on how liquidity protocols are already using Maple’s infrastructure as a launchpad onto Solana.” Maple Solana Head Quinn Barry reportedly shared expectations of the initiative to instantly boost Solana activity.

Barry reportedly also took to Twitter to share extra details the next day, disclosing that Maple have intentions of rolling out a permissioned pool and to make fund borrowing available to protocols, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), and real-world entities by the end of this year.

Maple Solana will reportedly also take care of the issuance for the SYRUP governance token in 2022, which will be analogous to Maple’s MPL governance token on Ethereum.
