Despite the official release of Meta’s metaverse initiative has not been commenced, Bitcoin SV (BSV) association president Jimmy Nguyen believed blockchain-based data storage would be a good option.
Specifically, per Nguyen, a global and interoperable metaverse ecosystem would reportedly result in a public blockchain-based storage of data.
Should Meta decides to go with this measure, Nguyen reportedly claimed that there is a possibility for Meta to turn into an interface which links a blockchain to firms’ metaverse apps. Consequently, this leads to other metaverses having the power to tap into user data as soon as users give their consent.
“I hope Facebook/Meta take an approach of creating a Metaverse where they build the environment but do not uniquely store your identity and data on their own servers.”
Furthermore, the BSV president reportedly highlighted that a blockchain with sufficient scalibility that is able to process major sums of transactions and data would be required for this kind of vision. According to Nguyen, the BSV blockchain possesses this ability.
“A successful metaverse requires a lot of data. Therefore, metaverse projects can benefit from integration with a blockchain with massive scale, data capacity and low fees.”
Due to this reason, Nguyen additionally believed that the BSV blockchain may have a part in the metaverse when it comes to payments, and functions as a base ledger for all the data files necessary for initiatives that express a desire to develop metaverses.
During a panel discussion taking place at the World Economic Forum (WEF), an executive at Lego Group reportedly remarked that children’s perspectives need to be taken into account upon the creation of metaverses. Edward Lewin, a vice president at the firm stated that bearing in mind that kids are the future users of metaverses, people should concentrate on “building from kids’ perspective.”
