Blockchain pioneer, Stellar’s CTO and co-founder Jed McCaleb reportedly directing a part of his resources towards a new sphere, space.
Specifically, the prominent crypto billionaire reportedly disclosed details related to the introduction of his new venture Vast, which works towards a primary target of widening the scope of “human habitation in space” – “enabling a future where millions of people are living across the solar system.”
Per a company statement, the space habitation startup was established by McCaleb last year, and will look to complete the objectives of building the globally pioneering artificial-gravity space station, to essentially make it possible for humans to live and work in space.
McCaleb’s track record of being on the cutting edge of technology started in 2000, when he built eDonkey2000, one of the most major file-sharing networks of the time. In 2007, he established an additional venture that designed a video game dubbed “The Far Wilds”.
He was also the individual responsible for the creation of “Magic: The Gathering Online Exchange”, a well-known trading card website that was eventually converted to a Bitcoin exchange going by the name Mt. Gox in 2011.
He also co-founded Ripple Labs, though he took off from the firm in June 2013. A year later, McCaleb founded the Stellar Development Foundation.
“I have always believed in leveraging technology to reduce inefficiency and improve the human condition. To expand human habitation in space, we have to create technologies that perfect sustainability.” McCaleb shares his expectation to utilize his knowledge to allow humanity to tap into the “incredible amount of resources” in our solar system.
Per McCaleb, he is putting together a “world-class team” of engineers with the assistance of numerous veteran in the secotr to form technology previously only seen in science fiction.
