Colorado Implements Blockchain in Water Management.

On March 6th, according to Colorado’s General Assembly website, The State of Colorado, United States, has assigned the local water institute to study the implementation of blockchain.

This bill, which was filled by The Republican Senator Jack Tate, along with the representatives Jeni James Arndt (D) and Marc Catlin ®, requested the Colorado Water Institute at Colorado State University to study how the blockchain technology can help improve the managing of databases of water rights.

Also, Colorado’s General Assembly want to find out if the blockchain can be used to build up and consolidate the water markets, water banks and contribute to the resource administration.

In order to carry out the study, the institute will need donations from both private and public sources to support their work.

In February, IBM Research, partnering with The Freshwater Trust, SweetSense Sensor and University of Colorado – Boulder, planned to test blockchain technology and the Internet of Things for managing groundwater. The pilot will be conducted at San Joaquin River Delta, northern California’s Sacramento.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) have found more than 65 blockchain cases to solve the world huge environmental challenges such as the management of supply chains, decentralized energy and water systems.
