Spanish Blockchain Company Sent Bitcoin to Congressmen to Educate Cryptocurrency

Every member of the lower house of Congress in Spain has reportedly received a surprise, crypto-related gift1 euro in the form of a digital coin. 

Specifically revealed by ABC, the project was an initiative led by Tutellus – a decentralized platform with a primary goal to achieve education technology tokenization – as well as the Blockchain Observatory. 

The project reportedly looks to boost the use of cryptocurrency across the nation. 

Every 350 members of Spain’s lower house – or generally referred to as the Congress of Deputies – has been given a gift via their mail boxes, being a sum of digital coins with the equal value of 1 euro. 

Miguel Caballero, Tutellus founder, reportedly disclosed details regarding the target of the project – to make the general audience more aware of the future role cryptocurrency has across the society. 

“We have explained to your honorable members that we are in a time of profound change in the use of money, in addition to highlighting the important role that cryptocurrencies have today.”

Caballero reportedly stated that the digital coins sent out were not meant as donations, as well as aware himself that a few Congressmen will not be a stranger to crypto. However, the ones not having any associations with crypto previously, this serves as a chance to obtain further knowledge of the tech. 

Banks in Spain have reportedly expressed a gradually more pro-attitude towards crypto and blockchain in recent years, with Santander teamed up with Ripple to build a blockchain-powered payment solution.
