Social media heavyweight Twitter is reportedly going to make cryptocurrency solutions available for its tipping jar, facilitating payment via the platform for users.
Specifically, Twitter staff product manager Esther Crawford reportedly claimed that the newly rolled out crypto tips update will reportedly be introduced on the iOS environment across the globe, with the platform looking to offer Android support in the following weeks as well.
The crypto option will reportedly offer users the ability to connect third-party apps, including Cash App, Patreon, Venmo, Chipper, Bandcamp, Razorpay, GoFundMe, PicPay, and Wealthsimple Cash – according to the are they are in – to their Twitter bios and individual Tweets for funds receiving.
“We want everyone on Twitter to have access to pathways to get paid. Digital currencies that encourage more people to participate in the economy and help people send each other money across borders and with as little friction as possible — help us get there.” Crawford reportedly remarked.
Apart from the connected offerings, Twitter tips are further utilized via the Bitcoin (BTC) Lightning Network, which employs the Strike app for payment transferring, or via including a BTC address directly to one’s profile.
“Twitter takes no cut,” Crawford additionally revealed.
