Tron Founder Justin Sun Apologized to China Government via a Deleted Social Media Update

By | July 26, 2019

Justin Sun – founder and current CEO of blockchain company Tron – has been the center of attention, following his online activities – deleting a freshly posted update regarding a PR argument.

Specifically, Sun has made a status update via his personal social media account, which was removed shortly afterwards. The crypto-related web page Cryptoslate has managed to translate the post’s content to English.

Sun has recently secured a spot for a lunch with Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett, which has been inevitably pushed to another date due to Sun’s medical condition.

Furthermore, it was the intense approach Sun chose to market his firm Tron that put him under the scope of the Chinese government, whose suspicion of the company’s legal status has rapidly grown.

The local newspaper Caixin has put those suspicion out for the general audience to know, and further reported that Sun has been prohibited from travelling to a foreign country. Sun has then mentioned Caixin’s name in his apology, which is believed to be an effort to make Beijing less hostile.

“I didn’t sleep all night yesterday, and deeply reflected on my memories and was introspective for my behavior and words — I felt ashamed for my over-marketing. I want to deeply apologize to the public, media, leaders, and the related regulatory authority who cared about me.”

Sun has then showcased numerous evidence which confirm that he actually went to San Francisco, the place where the Buffett lunch was supposed to happen, consequently dismissing any claims of him banned from foreign travel.

Sun has not given any explanation to why he removed his apology, in which he promised to take his marketing campaign down a notch.

“In the future, I will repair my shortcomings, reduce my vocalizations on Weibo, reduce the media interviews, and translate all the research and development from marketing hype to true blockchain technology.”
