The US newspaper giant, the New York Times (NYT) has started hiring blockchain talent to develop a proof-of-concept (POC) for new publishers, according to the NYT job posting list on Glassdoor site, March 13.
The original listing has been taken down after a few hours, and the media organization has yet to comment on the matter, at the time of writing.
Listing as “Lead, Blockchain Exploration”, this “forward-looking leader” role is expected to “help envision and design a blockchain-based proof of concept for news publishers.”
To get the new project going, the Blockchain Exploration Lead is required to have an “established track record in real-world application of new technologies” and a “mixed skill set with some experience in at least 3 of journalism, product, design, software development, hardware engineering, user research.”
Candidates are expected to have extensive experience in media industry for at least 8 years. Strong skills in verbal and written communications, partnerships and collaborations are also necessary. One other crucial requirement, as the job listing stated, is the candidates have to had “a real passion for The New York Times’s mission.”
