Tencent Financial Academy has collaborated with Hong Kong University (HKU) to work together on fintech research and development projects related to financial technology.
The collaboration reportedly includes joint research and development of fintech projects between the Financial Technology and Blockchain Lab of Hong Kong University’s Computer Science Department and Tencent. The University of Hong Kong will also introduce a financial technology course in its bachelor program in September 2019.
The Dean of the University of Hong Kong, Professor Zhao Yuheng added that the courses would provide professional knowledge of financial technology with the help of Tencent Financial College, for the students to build skills that helpful for their future careers in the fintech industry.
Besides, Tencent Financial College will offer internship opportunities to University of Hong Kong students and provide workshops, guest lectures along with corporate visits. Established in June 2018, Tencent Financial Academy was a part of Chinese IT giant Tencent with the intention to foster financial and technology talents.
Earlier, Ripple has partnered with the Institute for Fintech Research, Tsinghua University (THUIFR) to offer Blockchain Technology Research Scholarship (BRSP) to graduate students in China, reported by TheCryptoSight in January.
