Starbucks to Apply Microsoft technology for Coffee Tracking

Giant coffee company Starbucks has teamed up with Microsoft to enhance coffee production tracking system, according to their announcement on Microsoft’s Build developers conference.

The new coffee tracking project includes predictive drive-thru order, connected coffee makers and bean to cup blockchain, which are believed to enhance Starbucks’ coffee supply chain. The partnership aims to apply Microsoft latest platform – blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) Microsoft Azure – to improve not only customers and suppliers experience, but also the connection between them.

Frank Shaw, Microsoft’s head of corporate communications, revealed that the Microsoft Azure not only “simplifies the formation, management, and governance of consortium blockchain networks”, but also supports users with complicated corporation network “in a few simple clicks”, or simply basic operations.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella considered Starbucks as a “increased hiring of software engineers at companies outside the industry that are embracing high tech solutions.” “They are coming together to completely take what is that iconic experience that is Starbucks and incorporating digital throughout,” Nadella said.

Back at Mobile World Congress, Microsoft announced a new partnership with Telefónica – Spain’s biggest multinational telecommunications company – to apply blockchain and AI in designing enhanced services for telecommunication customers.

Additionally, the coffee company is believed to soon apply Bakkt software in-store to convert crypto payments from customers into fiat for Starbucks.
