Two South Korean private universities will partner in constructing a well-appointed Blockchain Campus with its own cryptocurrency, set to launch later on in 2019.
According to local English news source Business Korea (Apr 3), Yonsei University, one of the oldest universities in South Korea and known to actively embrace blockchain, partners with Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), as they aim to lead blockchain research among universities.
Per the announcement, POSTECH will initiate a program involves Engram, a knowledge sharing system, which allows students to share their knowledge of the technology and incentivize any excellent contribution with its native token Neuron and a certificate on completion.
In addition, a student-driven voting and survey system, or simply Voting, will deploy distributed ledger technology to enhance data verification. Meanwhile, POSTECH is running yet another project which lets students buy goods at the cafeterias with Neurons, hence, encouraging cryptocurrency usage on a daily basis, the press release reads.
Plus, a blockchain-driven research center, as well as other plans, are in their final stage of preparation, as well as a blockchain-powered student card and certificate issuance, all of which are set to launch in the near future.
POSTECH’s President Kim Do-yeon made a remark on the principle of the partnership, quoted:
“It is meaningful that POSTECH and Yonsei University jointly design the future of core technology and establish educational and research foundations for future talent to prepare for the technology.”
