South Carolina Senate Approved Of Bill Recognizing Blockchain Potential

By | March 12, 2020

The State Senate of South Carolina has reportedly approved of a resolution, which aims to provide proper recognition of the potential blockchain tech possessed.

The bill –  called “A Senate Resolution To Acknowledge The Importance Of Emerging Blockchain Technology And To Call Upon The Residents Of South Carolina To Join In Encouraging The Promotion Of Blockchain Technology In Our State” – has been finalized and approved on March 10th.

Particularly, the resolution emphasized the priority status of state-wide emerging technologies adoption, with a primary goal to help turn the region into “the capital for the real-world application of the emerging technology of blockchain.”

In efforts to drive the acknowledgement level of the general public with blockchain, nonprofit organizations and blockchain-focused businesses in the area have purportedly worked with and provide support for city, state organizations and universities.

The news came not long after US congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ) reportedly announced the arrival of a new bill, “Crypto-Currency Act of 2020”, which aims to determine which regulators to take charge of which crypto assets.

In March 2020, the U.S. Department of the Treasury has also held a meeting with important stakeholders in the crypto sector to talk about issues revolving around regulations. The department clarified its attitude at the time, strongly against the involvement of crypto in money laundering, terrorist financing and other illegal acts.
