SatoshiLabs – the crypto firm headquartered in Prague that designed the hardware digital wallet Trezor – has reportedly rolled out its new Bitcoin-only firmware, currently running a beta phase.
As reported via a blog post on September 9, the new Bitcoin-exclusive firmware can be downloaded by any customer using Trezor One and Trezor Model T. The firm has further plans in store for an introduction of a “stable version” in the upcoming update.
“From now on, we will be producing four different versions of firmware — regular (full altcoin support + U2F/WebAuthn) and Bitcoin-only, for both Trezor One and Model T. […] We have created a customized version of both our firmware and Wallet designed for everyone who supports the idea of Bitcoin. Every Bitcoin maximalist can now enjoy the Wallet interface with nothing else but Bitcoin.”
According to the published post, in order to properly set up the new feature, clients need to have the 2.1.0 or newer of either Trezor Model T or Trezor One, be able to log in to their Trezor Beta Wallet or trezorctl, along with having the right file to install the firmware.
Previously, Ledger – one of Trezor’s rivals – claimed to have discovered 5 weak points in Trezor One and Trezor Model T. The crypto replied by saying that said weak points can be fixed easily and are not vulnerable for exploitation.
