South Korean tech heavyweight Samsung reportedly disclosed details related to a new smart TV lineup possessing an integrated non-fungible token (NFT) platform.
Specifically, the smart TVs of Samsung in 2022, nominally Micro LED, Neo QLED, and The Frame will reportedly come with a built-in NFT Platform app, which will offer to facilitate features “for discovering, purchasing and trading digital artwork”.
“With demand for NFTs on the rise, the need for a solution to today’s fragmented viewing and purchasing landscape has never been greater” The firm further revealed.
In 2022, Samsung reportedly has a target of rolling out the first smart TV NFT explorer and marketplace aggregator. The anticipating platform will make it possible for viewers to browse and also trade NFTs at the comfort of their couch.
Despite the exact details of which NFT platforms or marketplaces to be integrated for aggregation haven’t been shared by Samsung, the tech giant promised its pro-crypto feature of the new smart TVs will have no negative effects on the image quality, preserving the NFT creator’s pre-set values.
Apart from the integration of NFTs in its products, the South Korean multinational conglomerate has reportedly been adopting an active stance regarding making investments in NFT and metaverse initiatives via its venture capital division, Samsung Next.
On December 29th, 2021, the company reportedly took part in an investment round for a metaverse gaming platform.
Other than Samsung, different heavyweights have reportedly also hopped on the NFT bandwagon. In July last year, Coca-Cola dipped its toes into NFTs to support charitable purposes. A month later, Visa completed the acquisition of a “CryptoPunk” NFT for $150,000.
