The music sector keeps on having inventive measures for the integration of decentralized techs into new releases, to bring advantages to both artists and their fans.
Specifically, Electronic dance music (EDM) artist R3HAB and blockchain-powered music community Anotherblock reportedly rolled out a single carrying the concept of “democratizing music rights.”
The nonfungible token (NFT) reportedly that comes with the drop reportedly makes it possible for holders to earn royalties dependent on streaming popularity.
The single, “Weekend on a Tuesday” is reportedly rolled out bundled with an exclusive NFT. Each of the 250 NFTs available will offer the holder a 0.02% share in the streaming revenue.
Anotherblock’s platform reportedly introduces a value tracking service to help holders run estimations regarding the payouts and overall value.
Numerous artists have been taking advantage of crypto assets as a measure for establishing a connection with their fan base via additional exclusives linked to the NFT, nominally extras include artwork, extra music, or behind-the-scenes material.
Head of Anotherblock – Michel D. Traore – reportedly remarked that this implementation measure of NFTs makes it possible for the ones who create value around songs to participate in getting some of it back.
“Music rights’ value is created by people loving and listening to the music, and doing things with it. Why shouldn’t [they] be able to own rights if they create the value by listening to it? They should be able to get some of the upside as well.”
The concept supporting this vision of spreading the value from primarily recording labels and music catalogs to cover more of the artists themselves and also the fans can be viewed as a “democratization” of the music sphere.
“The middle ground of more and more people owning rights is what’s missing today, and I think to lead to positive effects.”
