Tech heavyweight Microsoft and blockchain firm Enjin have reportedly formed an alliance to roll out a game celebrating women in science, which gives out Minecraft-compatible NFTs as rewards. 

Specifically, the game – dubbed “Azure Space Mystery” – reportedly functions as an interactive, fictional online game, built for the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. 

Players will reportedly spend efforts to save the International Space Station, and will in turn receive a limited edition NFT for finishing the mission. 

During gameplay, players will reportedly also pick up knowledge about prominent European female scientists including Mary Somerville, Caroline Herschel, and Raymonde de Laroche.

The NFTs are compatible and can be transferred with the popular game Minecraft, which possessed 131 million players on a monthly basis, up to October last year. 

“Education is key to empowering the next generation of innovators. Enjin is proud to work alongside Microsoft to generate innovative opportunities for merging virtual worlds, bringing digital communities closer together and celebrating powerful women in science and tech.” Bryana Kortendick, Enjin’s VP of operations and communications, reportedly remarked. 

Via logging into Minecraft’s MyMetaverse server and establishing connection with an Enjin wallet carrying the NFTs, players will reportedly be able to tap into a sequel Azure Space Mystery quest within Minecraft, which generates extra collectible NFTs upon completion. 

Despite the source of the tokens available to be claimed by players is limitless, the issuance of the NFTs will never be carried out again once the Space Mystery promotion ends.
